The Appalachian Trail by Day Hikes is a to-the-point, candid guide to hiking the whole Appalachian Trail by day-hikes across the span of many years, along with “tips for the timid” and concise journal-type recollections of notable sections. The author, Polly Schoning, a retired verterinary pathologist, is a former member of the board of the Green Mountain Club and life member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and two maintaining clubs.
